07.27.15Levels II and III, Somatic Voicework (tm), The Lovetri Method
This past July, I attended an inspiring teacher-training at Shenandoah University in Virginia where I finished my certification in Somatic Voicework(™), The LoVetri Method. It was amazing to be able to connect and sing with with vocalists and voice teachers from all around the world. I can’t wait to see how this new information continues to unfold in my own singing practice as well with my students in the private studio!

I just came back from an extremely inspiring weekend at City College of New York, where I completed my Level I Certification in Somatic Voicework (tm), The Lovetri Method. I am very excited to begin to integrate what I've learned into both my own performance and my private teaching practice. Here's looking forward to Levels II and III!

09.13.12New England Conservatory Jazz Vocal Ensemble to perform Sonia's arrangement of "Static Still"
"ReVoice's" own Aubrey Johnson, the director of NEC's jazz vocal ensemble has generously invited me to expand my arrangement of Theo Bleckmann's "Static Still" for them to perform at the end of the semester. I'm excited to hear their rendition!!

I'm excited to announce the official debut of "ReVoice," a woman’s vocal chamber quartet featuring original compositions and arrangements by yours truly and the other members of the group (Aubrey Johnson, Natalie Galey, and Nicky Schrire). We had lots of fun at our first performance last week at Mariel Berger's house concert series "285 Midwood."

03.02.11Songwriters: The Next Generation
Very excited to be a part of this series!!
"Songwriters: The Next Generation," a program of The ASCAP Foundation and The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, will showcase the work of four emerging songwriters and composers in a free concert on the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage on Thursday, March 24 and Friday, March 25, 2011 at 6 p.m.
"Songwriters: The Next Generation," was conceived by the late jazz pianist, educator, composer and ASCAP Foundation Board member Dr. Billy Taylor. Throughout his life, Dr. Taylor stressed the importance of showcasing the talent of contemporary composers who are also performers. The first night of the performances, which focuses on jazz composers, will be dedicated to his memory.

Very happy to have the honor of a 2011 ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Award for my piece "Beauty Interrupted." Written for four female voices, the text in this piece is from a poem a written by my cousin Samantha Myers. Visit the "listen" section to hear this composition.
